Happy Endings Show
A reading at the Happy Endings Reading Series, the monthly Make Out Room ritual where five local writers each read a new piece on a shared theme. The bar is in the Mission. The room is small. The crowd is on a second drink by the time the microphone gets warm.
I read alongside four other writers, on the theme of the night, the way you read in a bar. Quietly until you have the room, louder when you do. The piece was a poem from the New Beirut lineage. The audience clapped at the right line. Someone bought me a drink after. That’s the entire report.
