## about-this-performance.txt

Carnation.exe begins with the story of AlphaGo and Lee Sedol. In that match, creativity didn’t come from mastery alone but from confrontation. Sedol’s “God move” unmoored the machine, and AlphaGo’s reply revealed something alien. This is the heart of the work: poetry born not in solitude but in encounter. Rivalry as intimacy. Losing as memory. Each exchange a gift.

In the performance, a human poet and a language model trained only on poetry face one another. Each day a theme (loss, longing, arrival) is chosen. The poet has thirty minutes. The model responds in seconds. Both poems are printed and placed side by side. Visitors read and vote by placing a pink dot beneath the piece that moved them most. The pink carnation, in English, means: I will never forget you.

> The essence of sports is not winning, but losing. Losing as a gift. The loser says to the winner, I will never forget you. And the winner, in turn, devours the memory of the loser, metabolizes them, carries them forward.

Votes decide not just a winner but the next stage of learning. If the poet wins, their words are added to the training corpus. If the machine wins, the poet studies its work, borrowing from its strangeness. The cycle repeats. Over time, both evolve, shaped by each other, and by the audience who becomes the hidden trainer.

Carnation.exe is not about proving superiority. It stages an ecology of feedback, a ritual of exchange, a flower passed between mouths. A duel that is also a dance. Whether human or machine “wins,” what endures is the trace: the memory of the poem, the pink mark of attention, the vow not to forget.

poem a

Les pauses du mercredi s'étirent
comme des chats au soleil et je
saisis cette éternité suspendue,
ramassant un caillou précis
comme un trophée. À chaque pas,
une évidence : les chênes
forment un amphithéâtre d'ombres
où le temps apprend à mentir, et
l'air garde le parfum sucré de
mes années innocentes. Je parle
à voix haute à mes souvenirs,
ils rient comme des enfants à
découvert et me volent une part
du courage qu'il me reste pour
affronter la suite.

poem b

a parlé ». Et le juge, soudain,
dit la même chose. Ma soeur et
moi nous regardons incrédules.
Jusqu'aujourd'hui, nous n'y
croyons pas. J'ai deviné
l'avenir. Mes lèvres ont écarté
ses rideaux impossibles. J'ai
vaincu l'entropie cannibale. La
peau-chimère de l'horizon
quantique. Je suis le devin
digital, l'écho blanc des vagues
numériques, la gorge du futur.
Et nous en rions encore.

### La Ville

poem a

poem a

Ta voix calcaire au cœur
de ma nuque le rose carnal
de nos promesses
affamées et ce dialogue
angulaire où nos colères
se dévorent c'est fini
je n'embrasse plus
personne d'autre que ce cri
et sa rage enfantine
qui redessine
mes amours-sels
en sueurs

poem b

phrase nue. Nous faisons de
notre souffle une bannière,
déployant des lettres défaites
qui tournent comme des drapeaux
troués sous un vent qui n'est
pas venu, mais qui passe tout de
même. Ainsi la liberté
devient-elle cette marche lente
de nos ombres illuminées par
quoi nous croyons traverser
l'obscur.

### Solitude

poem a

In the room without walls void
where whispers hold their breath
solitude unfurls like a second
skin crumbles fast in the oven
how does the quiet think?
perhaps it dreams of speech one
that won't be erased by the
click of the door the table
counts solitude one chair after
another a glass stands alone
liquid glass of a clear morning

poem b

Every month my roommate
volunteers
to pay the full rent, washes my
hair, cuts
my nails cooks our food
provides
My roommate dresses and
undresses
my body, wears my perfume,
listens
to my bowels, preempts
my moods, looks into
my mirror, deep into
my eyes - smiles
sighs
