From Bugs Bunny to Buddha | A Poetry Open Mic Night

*THE JOURNEY*
“If I had to choose between the Doors and Dostoyevsky, then — of course — I’d choose Dostoyevsky, but do I have to choose? … Happenings did not make me care less about Aristotle and Shakespeare. I was — I am — for a pluralistic, polymorphous culture.”
Susan Sontag (January 16, 1933–December 28, 2004), in the preface to the 30th-anniversary edition of "Against Interpretation".

In a situation where time is expanding, we are faced with a choice as to what culture we choose to let in. Because the culture we choose will lead to the culture we build in the times that follow.

From Bugs Bunny to Buddha and Back, like Sontag, suggests there is no spectrum to land on. No high and low culture. No good and bad. Meaning does not precede choice. Choice is the leaven of meaning.

So bring your best, your favorite, your ugly, your beautiful! Choose well, choose badly, choose fast or slow. But choose! And most importantly, come share, we're curious to see and hear what you chose
